Lovely Sunday roast
We were looking for somewhere to book a Sunday roast and chose this place based on the reviews and what a great find it was! From the moment we walked in, the staff were very welcoming, and even though it was busy, nothing seemed too much trouble. Both roasts were excellent. The beef was very tender and full of flavour, while the pork was juicy and succulent. The potatoes, parsnips, and carrots were all spot on. The cauliflower cheese could have done with a little more cooking, but the cheese sauce was rich and delicious.

Lovely family dinner
All four of us had a fantastic meal. The wife and I both had the catch of the day; the lemon sole, which was beautifully cooked and full of favour – it just fell off the bone. The staff were great – super quick and very attentive and the dog was welcomed with open arms. Genuinely a dog friendly pub. It’s my fourth visit here and we’ll definitely be back on our next trip down to Cornwall. Thank you!

Stopped in after a big cycle ride and had the most fabulous nduja pasta dish (far better than other establishments that serve the same dish!). Top experience with great service in a fabulous friendly, and historic, establishment.

The best host I’ve ever encountered, nothing was too much trouble for her and the best burger I’ve had in ages. The sticky toffee pudding is worth going back for just to have it again.

Relaxing lunch
We met friends for lunch and we had a lovely time! We had burgers, chicken sandwiches and a salad ….. the brown bread was on the dry side for the chicken sandwich but that was outweighed by the friendly staff, chilled atmosphere, spacious dining areas – and we were very impressed by the option of a dog bed and blanket which meant that we could relax once our dog was settled! We didn’t feel rushed at all and the food was reasonably priced.
